Cal y Canto is a building term that technically means calcium and stone or bricks and mortar. However, canto also means song and the expression has taken on a secondary meaning in the Spanish language as perhaps has been best captured in a book of poetry under the name “Cal Y Canto” by Rafael Alberti. Playing off the secondary meaning associated with the expression, Alberti used colors and texture to evoke strong feelings. Casita del Pescado is aptly named after the subtle details of local fish, represented on Talevera tile and elsewhere throughout. It offers a similar open layout as the Casita de la Tortuga, with 2BRs, 2BA (with one indoor/outdoor shower) a kitchen and a pullout couch. As opposed to the Casita de la Tortuga and Casita del Pescado, the Casita del Sol is an upper unit with its own private entry (above the property managers) with 1BRs, 1BA (with an indoor/outdoor shower). Casita de la Tortuga is aptly named after the subtle details of local leatherback and olive ridley turtles, represented on Talevera tile and elsewhere throughout. It offers a similar open layout as the Casita del Pescado, with 2BRs, 2BA (with one indoor/outdoor shower) a kitchen and a pullout couch.
